Vande Bharat is a sleeper for the middle class
Vande Bharat sleeper coaches are coming for middle class passengers. 800 to 1200 km in one night. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that Vande Bharat will bring sleeper class trains for the journey. On September 1, 2024… visited Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML), Bangalore. The Vande Bharat Sleeper Prototype (Pilot Version) train designed here was inaugurated by Minister of State for Railways V. Invented with Somanna. These bogies will be run experimentally on the tracks for the next ten days and will be made available to passengers within the next three months. The Railway Minister said that plans are being made to bring two or three trains every month after a year and a half. Prototype versions will also be tested under harsh conditions. The ticket prices in this state-of-the-art Vande Bharat sleeper train with 16 coaches are almost the same as the ticket price of Rajdhani trains. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav inaugurated the Vande Bharat Trains Manufacturing Unit at BEML premises.
Telangana is ranked 8th in the list of rare diseases and Andhra Pradesh is ranked 7th
Telangana (8th position) is in the list of top ten states with rare diseases in the country. Andhra Pradesh is at the 7th position. The Center has revealed that there are 13,479 people suffering from these diseases across the country, 661 in Telangana and 684 in AP. These details were recently submitted to the Parliament by the Department of Health, Health and Family Welfare. Uttar Pradesh has 1,976 people, Maharashtra 1,387, Karnataka 1,275, Tamil Nadu 1,201, Assam 898, Delhi 879, Andhra Pradesh 684, Telangana 661, West Bengal 642 and Bihar 608. 75 percent of the total cases (10,211 people) are in these ten states. There are 4 southern states in the top ten with 28 percent cases. The Center has identified 63 types of diseases as rare. It said that 12 centers have been set up to provide treatment.
Immune Deficiencies, Gaucher’s Disease, Mucopolysaccharidoses, Pompe, Fabry, Maple Syrup Urine Diseases, Organic Acidemias, Cystic Fibrosis, Osteogenesis, Some Types of Muscular Dystrophy are on the list of rare diseases. The central government will bear up to Rs.50 lakh for the treatment of those suffering from rare diseases. The center said that till 2021 it has been increased to Rs.20 lakhs while it has been increased to Rs.30 lakhs. It said that Rs.24.20 crores have been allocated for the financial year 2024-25 and Rs.136.34 crores in the last four years.
Russia’s ‘surveillance whale’… Hvaldimir is dead
A beluga whale named ‘Hvaldimir’, a Russian spy whale, has died. The 14-foot-long, 2,700-pound whale was found dead in the Bay of Risavika near Stavanger on August 31, 2024. The whale was first spotted in 2019 near Hammerfest in northern Norway. It was named ‘Hvaltimir’ by combining the names ‘Hval’ from Norway and ‘Valdimir’ from Russia. It has a label around its neck that says St. Petersburg, suggesting that it is part of a Russian intelligence agency. It is in the news as a Russian spy. Russia argues that there is no such thing. Sebastian Strand, the founder of Marine Mind and Hvaldimir’s conservation responsibilities… expressed grief over the whale’s death.
Ramon Magsaysay Award for Japanese Animator
The Ramon Magsaysay Award 2024, which is considered as the Asian Nobel Prize, has been awarded to famous Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki. He directed films like Spirited. Three others and one organization received the 2024 Ramon Magsaysay Award. The organizing committee said that the awards will be presented at a program to be held in November this year. Vietnam’s Dr. Nguyen, former Buddhist monk Karmapunt Shah and Indonesia’s Farviji Farhan have received awards. The Rural Doctors’ Movement organization from Thailand also received the Ramon Magsaysay Award 2024.
