స్త్రీ, పురుష సమానత్వం విషయంలో మన దేశం ఇంకా వెనుకబడే ఉంది. గతేడాదితో పోలిస్తే ఈసారి భారత్ ర్యాంకింగ్ మరో రెండు అంకెలు పడిపోయింది. వరల్డ్ ఎకనామిక్ ఫోరమ్(WEF) తాజాగా విడుదల చేసిన గ్లోబల్ జెండర్ గ్యాప్ ఇండెక్స్‌‌లో (Global Gender Gap Index) కొత్త రిపోర్ట్ ని విడుదల చేసింది.
ప్రపంచవ్యాప్తంగా 146 దేశాలతో గ్లోబల్ జెండర్ గ్యాప్ ఇండెక్స్‌‌‌ను వరల్డ్ ఎకనామిక్ ఫోరమ్ రూపొందించింది. ఇందులో భారత్‌కు ఈసారి 129వ ర్యాంకు వచ్చింది. గత ఏడాది ఈ ఇండెక్సులో మన దేశం 127వ ర్యాంకులో ఉంది. ఈ లిస్టులో ప్రపంచంలోనే నంబర్ 1 స్థానంలో ఐస్‌‌లాండ్ నిలిచింది. అంటే ఆ దేశంలో అత్యంత మెరుగైన స్థితిలో లింగ సమానత్వం ఉంది. అక్కడ స్త్రీ, పురుషులను సరిసమానంగా చూస్తున్నారు. గత 14 ఏళ్లుగా ఈ ఇండెక్సులో ఐస్‌లాండ్ దేశం మొదటి ప్లేసులోనే కొనసాగుతోంది. లింగ సమానత్వంలో(Gender Equality) ఐస్‌‌లాండ్ తర్వాతి స్థానాల్లో ఫిన్‌లాండ్, నార్వే, న్యూజిలాండ్, స్వీడన్ ఉన్నాయి.
లింగ సమానత్వం ఇండెక్సులో పాకిస్తాన్ ర్యాంకు గత ఏడాది కంటే మూడు స్థానాలు దిగజారి 145కు పడిపోయింది. దక్షిణాసియా దేశాల పరంగా చూస్తే.. బంగ్లాదేశ్, నేపాల్, శ్రీలంక, భూటాన్ తర్వాత ఐదో స్థానంలో భారత్ ఉంది. భారత్‌కు 129వ ర్యాంకు వచ్చింది. పాకిస్తాన్ 145వ ర్యాంకుతో దక్షిణాసియా దేశాల్లో ఆరో స్థానంలో నిలిచింది. లింగ సమానత్వం విషయంలో ప్రపంచవ్యాప్తంగా అత్యంత చివరి స్థానంలో సూడాన్ దేశం ఉంది. స్త్రీ, పురుష ఆర్థిక సమానత్వం విషయంలో బంగ్లాదేశ్, సూడాన్, ఇరాన్, పాకిస్తాన్, మొరాకో అధ్వానంగా ఉన్నాయని నివేదిక తెలిపింది. ఈ విషయంలో భారత్ పరిస్థితి కూడా అంతంత మాత్రంగానే ఉంది.

భారత్ ఆ విషయాల్లో భేష్

సెకండరీ తరగతుల్లో స్త్రీ, పురుష విద్యార్థుల నమోదు విషయంలో భారత్ అత్యుత్తమ లింగ సమానత్వాన్ని చూపిందని నివేదిక చెబుతోంది. రాజకీయాల్లో మహిళల సాధికారత పరంగా ప్రపంచంలో భారత్ 65వ స్థానంలో ఉంది. భారత్‌లో మహిళలకు 6.9 శాతం మాత్రమే మంత్రి పదవులను కేటాయిస్తున్నారని నివేదిక చెప్పింది. భారత పార్లమెంట్‌లో 17.2 శాతం మంది మాత్రమే మహిళలు ఉన్నారు. 140 కోట్లకు పైగా జనాభాను కలిగిన భారత్ 2024లో 64.1 శాతం మేర లింగ అసమానతలను తగ్గించిందని నివేదిక ప్రశంసించింది. ఇదే టైమ్ లో ప్రపంచంలో సగటున 68.5 శాతం దాకా లింగ అసమానతలు తగ్గాయి. ప్రస్తుత వేగంతో పూర్తి స్థాయిలో ప్రపంచవ్యాప్తంగా లింగ అసమానతలు తొలగించాలంటే ఇంకో 134 యేళ్ళు పడుతుందని వరల్డ్ ఎకనామిక్ ఫోరమ్ స్టడీ రిపోర్ట్ చెబుతోంది. 134 యేళ్ళు అంటే ఐదు తరాలకు సమానమని అంటోంది WEF.

What is India’s rank in gender equality?

Our country is still lagging behind in terms of gender equality. Compared to last year, this time India’s ranking has dropped by two more digits. The World Economic Forum (WEF) has released a new report on the Global Gender Gap Index (Global Gender Gap Index).
The World Economic Forum has compiled a Global Gender Gap Index with 146 countries across the world. India has got 129th rank this time. Last year our country was ranked 127th in this index. Iceland is number 1 in the world in this list. It means that the country has the best gender equality. Men and women are treated equally there. For the last 14 years, the country of Iceland has been in the first place in this index. Iceland is followed by Finland, Norway, New Zealand and Sweden in terms of gender equality.
Pakistan’s rank on the Gender Equality Index has dropped three places to 145 from last year. In terms of South Asian countries, India is at the fifth position after Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bhutan. India got 129th rank. Pakistan is ranked 145th among the South Asian countries. Sudan ranks last in the world in terms of gender equality. Bangladesh, Sudan, Iran, Pakistan and Morocco are worse in terms of economic equality between men and women, the report said. India’s situation in this regard is also very poor.

India is bad in those matters

India has the best gender parity in terms of enrollment of male and female students in secondary classes, says the report. India ranks 65th in the world in terms of women’s empowerment in politics. The report said that only 6.9 percent of ministerial posts are allotted to women in India. Only 17.2 percent of the Indian Parliament are women. The report hailed that India, with a population of over 140 crores, has reduced gender inequality by 64.1 percent by 2024. In the same time, gender inequality has reduced to 68.5 percent on average in the world. A World Economic Forum study report says it will take another 134 years to completely eliminate gender inequality globally at the current pace. WEF says that 134 years is equal to five generations.
