ULI for UPI-style loans
Digital payments have become very easy since 2016 through Unified Payments Interface. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will soon announce the Unified Lending Interface (ULI) for easy borrowing. This decision is being taken to benefit those in small and rural areas. RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das said this at RBI @90 Global Conference in Bangalore.
RBI has been running a technology platform as a pilot project in two states of the country since last year to provide loans easily. As it was successful, the governor said that this platform will soon be launched across the country. It is going to be called Unified Lending Interface (ULI).
How does it work?
Land records in various states are also maintained by banks/financial institutions through data service providers. Built with common, standardized APIs, ULI provides plug and play access to information in digital form. Analyzing customer data and providing loans to those in the agriculture and MSME sectors. ULI reduces loan disbursement time. Loans can be provided speedily with mostly documentation.
Nuclear Submarine ‘INS Arighat’
Inspired by the design and experience of India’s first fully nuclear capable ballistic missile submarine ‘INS Arihant’, the Indian Navy has built another nuclear powered submarine, INS Arighat. Like the Arihant, the Arighat was built by the Ship Building Center at Visakhapatnam Naval Dockyard, a warship base of the Eastern Navy. Its construction was undertaken in December 2011. After the construction of the first phase, it was launched on November 19, 2017. After fixing the other parts, a radar system with the latest technology was installed. Also, weapons were also installed at Arighat. Seatrials have already been done. When Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh visited the Visakha Naval Base… the naval officials informed him about the INS Arighat. It seems that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate INS Arighat to the nation by the end of this month or the first week of September.
