Why didn’t the group 2 mains take place?
Lakhs of unemployed people were waiting for group-II notification during the last YCP regime. There were also agitations and dharnas demanding that thousands of vacant posts be filled up. However, before the elections, the Jagan government issued a Group-II notification on December 7, 2023. It is alleged that the APPSC has issued an advertisement for filling up only 897 posts even though thousands of posts are lying vacant. Not only that… The exam was conducted as per the new syllabus by making changes in the earlier syllabus.
The GROUP-II preliminary examination was conducted by the APPSC in a span of 2 months i.e. on February 25, 2024. A total of 4,83,535 candidates had applied, out of which 4,04,037 candidates appeared for the prelims. Due to the new syllabus, 79,498 candidates did not appear for the exam due to lack of proper preparation conditions. On April 10, 2024, the APPSC released the Group-II Prelims results. A total of 92,250 candidates have qualified for the mains. The mains exam date has been announced as July 28, 2024. However, the unemployed complained that they could not prepare properly due to the changes in the syllabus. The Jagan government postponed the APPSC Group 2 Mains exams due to administrative reasons and due to protests and appeals by the people’s representatives. Now that the coalition government has come to power, the APPSC has announced that the Group-II Mains exams will be conducted from January 5, 2025.
