UPSC Civils Exam New Rule: UPSC has brought a new rule for those applying for the Civil Services Exam. According to this rule, candidates applying for the Civil Services Prelims Exam will have to submit documents related to their age and reservation in advance.
Earlier, candidates used to submit their Age and Caste Certificates after qualifying in the Civils Prelims exam. But in 2025, UPSC has issued a notification applying new rules to those applying for Civils. IAS Probationary Officer Pooja Khedkar was accused of submitting false OBC and Medical Certificates and getting selected for IAS under the disabled quota. After this incident, she was suspended and a case is going on in the Supreme Court. To prevent such situations from arising again, a new rule has been brought to submit those documents before the preliminary exam.
Whatever documents are needed!
According to the Civil Services Exam Rules-2025, ‘Apply for the Civil Services exam online. The application should mention the date of birth, caste or category (SC, ST, OBC, EWS, Divyang, Ex-Servicemen), educational qualifications, and service preferences. Documents proving them must be uploaded. If these documents are not submitted along with the application, the candidature will be cancelled, the UPSC notification states.
The 2025 Civil Services preliminary exam will be held on May 25. About 979 posts will be filled with this exam. Out of which 38 posts have been allotted to the Divyang. Candidates should apply on the website http://upsconline.gov.in. The application is open till 6 pm on February 11, 2025.
