Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched 3 Param Rudra Computers, which are completely indigenously designed, on September 26.These have been set up in Delhi, Kolkata and Pune at a total cost of 130 crore rupees.
What are Param Rudra supercomputers? Let’s know how Arka and Arunikala work to accurately detect the arrival of rain.
What is the use of Param Rudra supercomputers?
Param Rudra Supercomputers work in conjunction with ‘Rudra Servers’. These have been installed in Delhi, Pune and Kolkata cities. From the close design to the complete manufacturing of these has been done in our India. Central for development of advanced computing (C-DAC) has developed these supercomputers as part of National Super computing machine.
The government says that these supercomputers will be useful for conducting in-depth research in the fields of earth science, physics and cosmology. It is said that researchers in more than 350 universities and institutes across the country can use the services of these supercomputers.
It has two systems Arka and Arunika… What do they do?
High performance computing (HPC) systems have been designed to monitor climate change from time to time and also for research in climate science. They were named Arka and Arunika.
High performance computing (HPC) system is a system that processes data very quickly and completes even the most complex calculations at high speed.
These systems have been installed at the Indian Institute of tropical metallurgy (IITM) in Pune and the Nation Center for Medium range weather forecasting (NCMRWF) in Noida.
The government says that due to this latest technology, heavy storms, heavy rainfall, floods, thunder, lightning, hail and any other critical weather changes can be predicted with more accuracy.
In fact, we do not have a system that can predict weather changes very quickly and accurately, just as no one can predict the arrival of rain… the trend of life.
If these Arka and Arunika systems work…there is a chance to reduce the damage caused by natural calamities to a great extent. The central government says that these latest technology systems will be useful for that. This is really good news.
In next two months these systems will be fully available… Pune’s supercomputer Arka… not only weather models… also works on climate change. It has also been developed to use artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies… and Param Rudra supercomputers are also useful for the agricultural sector.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a video uploaded on his official YouTube channel that there will be revolutionary changes in the agriculture sector based on deep research and data analysis with the help of super computing.
Based on the research done with these supercomputing systems, scientists can develop better seeds and quality fertilizers. There is a chance to increase soil fertility. Also, when should farmers sow seeds due to more accurate predictions of climate change? When should the crop be harvested? There is a chance to know such things easily.
All in all, with these Param Rudra supercomputers…our country has also stood in the ranks of the leading countries in the world in supercomputing. Moreover, it can be assumed that by predicting the arrival of rain in advance, the loss of life in natural disasters can be reduced to zero.
