The central government has decided to provide free health insurance under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jana Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) to all senior citizens of the country above 70 years of age. Till now only poor and low income people were under this scheme. Henceforth, Rs.5 lakh health coverage under PMJAY will be provided to everyone who completes 70 years irrespective of their financial status.

Under the current Ayushman Bharat Health Scheme in the country, 1350 medical packages are available in selected government and private hospitals for those who have completed 70 years of age. 4.5 crore families including 6 crore senior citizens of the country will be benefited under this scheme.
