India has launched several successful missions to bring back its citizens stranded in conflict-affected countries. Here are some notable rescue operations:
- Operation Ajay (2023): Launched to facilitate the return of Indians from Israel, where tensions escalated due to attacks by Hamas militants on Israeli towns. Around 18,000 Indians were residing in Israel at the time
- Operation Kaveri (2023): Conducted to evacuate Indian citizens and foreign nationals from Sudan during the conflict. Nearly 2,500 Indian citizens were evacuated through air and sea
- Operation Dost (2023): Initiated to aid Syria and Turkey after the 2023 Turkey–Syria earthquake devastated both countries in February
- Operation Ganga (2022): Carried out to rescue Indian citizens stranded in neighboring countries during the 2022 Russia-Ukraine war. Around 16,000 Indians were flown back to India from Romania, Hungary, Poland, Moldova, and Slovakia
- Operation Devi Shakti (2021): Conducted by the Indian Air Force to bring back Indians safely from Afghanistan after the fall of Kabul to the Taliban
