Eligibility Criteria

To apply, candidates must:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering in the relevant discipline.
  • Be aged between 21 to 30 years as of January 1, 2025.
  • Enjoy age relaxation:
    • SC/ST: 5 years
    • OBC: 3 years
    • PwBD: 10 years

Application Fee

  • ₹200 for General/OBC male candidates.
  • No fee for SC/ST, PwBD, and all female candidates.
  • Payment must be made online via debit/credit card or net banking.

Selection Process

The UPSC ESE selection involves three stages:

1️⃣ Preliminary Exam (Objective Type)

  • Paper I: General Studies & Engineering Aptitude
    • 200 questions | 200 marks
  • Paper II: Discipline-specific technical paper
    • 300 questions | 300 marks
  • Total: 500 marks
  • Negative Marking: 1/3rd mark deducted for each wrong answer

2️⃣ Mains Exam (Descriptive Type)

  • Two papers based on the chosen engineering discipline
  • Each paper carries 300 marks
  • Total: 600 marks
  • No negative marking

3️⃣ Personality Test (Interview)

  • Personal interview carries 200 marks
  • Final merit is based on total 1300 marks
